Perry Dixon is a native of Detroit, Michigan. After studying mechanical engineering at Michigan State University, he trained as a dancer and intellectual generalist before going back to school to receive a BFA in industrial design from Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids. He was featured in I.D. magazine's 1998 Annual Review for Furniture Design Distinction. He believes design without a vision is masturbatory and truly good design is simple, subtle, and transcendent, yet often goes unnoticed. Perry's heroes are his mother and Muhammad Ali. He also admires Michaelangelo, Thoreau, Frank Lloyd Wright, the Dalai Lama, Billy Joel, and Noam Chomsky. |
